Description: This lot of 13 misc. stones was in my father's collection of rough materials that were awaiting their turn to be cut and polished. MOst of the stones in this lot are petrified wood, 6 of them being specifically Petrified Palm Tree wood. One of these has actually been polished, but it does have a bit of the green dop wax on the back that got stuck in the texture of the palm wood. There are 3 other pieces of different petrified woods, 2 pieces of what reminds me of antler material, an opal with a message written on it. I'm thinking that Dad used that piece in his teaching materials to point out a structural element to the stones. The last piece looks like a shell that broke off a piece of Turitella Agate. The whole lot of 13 stones weighs about 53.600 grams. My photos show the stones both dry and wet - the photos showing them with an aluminum pie tin, or a blue towel, in the background show the stones wet so you can see what they might look like when they have been cut and polished. With his PhD in mineralogy, my father loved to collect rocks. He took great pride in his mineral collection which he carefully organized by chemical groups. Since he recently passed away I'm tasked with finding his treasures a new home. I still have loads of rocks and rough material to re-home so I'll be posting more of my father's rock collections (rough material, cut stones, pendants, mineral specimens, and other rock related items) off and on for months so do make my store one of your favorites and check in often to see what new items are listed.
