Kinetic Model Kits has been very active in producing high quality 1/48 scale aircraft with an emphasis on interesting subjects. The E-2 Hawkeye has been the “Eye in the Sky” for the fleet for several decades and this Airborne Early Warning (AEW) aircraft will serve well into the future. Naturally, there have been upgrades since the introduction in the 1960s. One of the latest variants is the subject of this kit – the E-2C Hawkeye 2000. Most of the enhancements are with the electronics & avionics and not visible, but the eight-bladed props are a dead giveaway. This bird comes with the dazzling color scheme marking the departure from Atsugi when VAW-115 (Liberty Bells) went back to Ventura County Naval Base, Point Mugu CA in 2017. As you can see from the pictures, the package showed up a little scuffed and dinged, so I can't call it mint. But it is still sealed with tape strips, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely build-ready.
