Description: This is an early wood inkwell from the 1830s or 1840s for quill pens (the quill pen is only shown for display and does not come with the inkwell).....it has an early pontiled glass ink bottle encased inside the wood housing.... It has old original initials HWC carved into side of the wood..... There are three small holes in top to hold quill feather pens......wood plug in bottom holds the glass ink bottle inside....The aqua hand blown glass bottle has open pontil scar on bottom and rolled in lip.....wood measures 2 3/8"tall x 3 3/4"round....concave curved side.....We just cant keep everything, so after 50 years of digging and collecting we have decided to part with many of our bottles (to make room for more..haha)...so keep watching our listings as many rare treasures are being found! ....
