Description: Original circa 1870's-1880's tintype of a man holding a doctor's type bag by the handle. The bag is also supported on his shoulder with a strap. We suspect that the contents of this bag were especially heavy as bags of this type are usually only carried by the handles & don't often have the additional support of the shoulder strap. Matt measures 4 inches by 2 7/16 inches. Tintype measures 2 5/8" by 1 7/8". The plate is very smooth, sharp, & clean. There are a few minute flaws of little consequence. The back of the mount has slight age soiling & a few small spots. This interesting photo came from an old Pennsylvania collection of tintypes which was formed over several decades. Please examine the photos closely & purchase based on your own judgement as to condition & value. This item is inventory #9909.
