Description: I have here for sale an antique book entitled The Professor & The Bronte Poems by Charlotte Bronte. This is the collectable World's Classics edition of this popular novel alongside the Brontes' poems, which was published in 1906 by Henry Frowde. First Edition Thus. Within The World's Classics series, this volume is designated LXXVIII (#78): The Novels and Poems of Charlotte, Emily, and Anne Bronte, V: The Professor and The Poems. Copies are scarce, as is usual for titles in this series. The book is in Good condition overall. Green cloth hardback boards, with ornate decorative motif to spine, slightly faded. White paint dots to front board. Leaning quite heavily, with rear board out of flush with textblock. Heavy tanning to free-endpapers, with stamped numeral '733' to ffep. Dark spots of heavy foxing to front and rear of textblock, affecting roughly fifty pages. Heavily darkened top page edges, with heavy dark spotting on all edges. Bumped to top and tail, with one bumped board corner. A few dog-eared pages. Pulling to pp. 290-1, and starting to pull elsewhere. 15.5cm x 10.5cm. 427 pages + 8 page catalogue of other titles in the series. Charlotte Brontë was an English novelist and poet, the eldest of the three Brontë sisters who survived into adulthood. Her novels became classics of English literature. She is best known for her novel Jane Eyre, which she published under the male pseudonym Currer Bell. Jane Eyre went on to become a success in publication, and is widely held in high regard in the gothic fiction genre of literature.
