Description: 1964 Topps #131 Deron Johnson New York Yankees PSA 6 EX-MT B64#131A1 This is a mid-level PSA 6 Deron Johnson card with nice corners, straight edges, and excellent centering in a clean, clear slab. New slab Nice back Johnson signed with the Yankees in ‘56 and produced the kind of power numbers the Yankees had plenty of, and after five years in the Yankees chain, the Yankees wanted a pitcher and traded for Bud Daley from the Athletics. After two years with the A’s, he spent time with the Reds and in ‘65, Johnson busted out with 32 home runs, 130 RBIs (leading the league) and a 287 batting average in 159 games. The next year his numbers dropped, and a year later he was with another club. He had a year with Atlanta and showed little improvement. He finally ended-up with the Phillies and experienced a resurgence and compiled nice power numbers for a couple of years. He went to the Oakland A’s in ‘73 and played little, but won a World Series ring with the A’s. He ended his 16 year career with Milwaukee, Chicago and Boston, and quietly left the game.
