China (Ming Tombs). Westerners, who only recently have been allowed into China, are seeing such sites as the Ming Tombs, located north of Peking, just inside the Great Wall. The tombs, in archaeological terms, are a fairly recent construction (the Ming dynasty dates from 1368 - 1644) but some remarkable finds have been made there recently. The most spectacular discovery was of two jade "death suits," the only remains of a Han dynasty prince and his wife who were buried in 113 B.C. Thirteen Ming emperors are interred in the tombs.Photo measures 8 x 10.5inches. Photo is dated 12-21-1975.
