Description: 1987 STEIFF teddy bear NICOLAUS BAER - MR SANTA ltd ed 300 GERMANY rare This adorable Steiff teddy bear is "Nicolaus Baer" or "Mr Santa". He is number 84 of a limited edition of 300 pieces designed exclusively for members of Hobby Center Toys Steiff Collectors Club in 1987. Hobby Center Toys of Toledo, Ohio was started in 1947. "Nicolaus Bar" is a reproduction of an original 1956 Steiff Bear. The included paper certificate has been personally signed by Mr. Hans Otto Steiff for the Steiff Family. Mr Santa is made of golden mohair fur with black stitched nose and glass eyes. He wears a white mohair beard, a fur trimmed red suit & hat, dark brown boots and belt and wire rimmed glasses. This bear came with two pairs of glasses, both are included. His original box and paper certificate are included. Teddy Bear measures 9" tall. This bear is described in the German book, "Steiff Sortiment 1947 - 1999" by Gunther Pfeiffer on page 469. This is a rare bear, only 300 were made for Hobby Center Toys Steiff Collector's Club in 1987. "Nicolaus Bar - Mr Santa" teddy bear had one owner. He was not played with and only displayed at Christmas. He is very clean, no dust or bug damage. There is no fading. No marks or stains. No smokey odors. No open seams.
