Description: Here are 2 old black & white photos of what I think is the same bar or tavern, just one is an exterior shot and the other is an interior shot. If you look closely, it looks like there is a man with a very receding hairline in both photos, perhaps the owner? You can see in two of the photos above. The interior photo looks like the place is decorated for Christmas and a group of men are gathered at the end of the bar. Looks to be fairly ornate place with the wallpaper on the back wall, the lights hanging from the ceiling and behind the bar there are old photos, a fancy cash register and some dolls oddly propped at the end of the counter behind the bar, with a kind of scary looking face that may be that era's version of Santa Claus. The more I look with a magnifying glass, the more I see. The man with the receding hairline is midway in back of the in a dark jacket. The exterior photo features the front of the building decorated with the U.S. flag and what I guess is red, white and blue bunting, but it's a black and white photo, there is also some streamers hanging around two windows. Looks like the bar tender in a long white apron is standing in the doorway and 4 men over alongside the building on the porch, including the man with the receding hairline. There is a sign next to the door advertising Uhl's Beer & Porter, this was a brewery in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. From what research I could find this brewery was around from 1893 to 1920, after Prohibition it reopened in 1933 as Beth-Uhl Brewing Co. There's another beer sign below that one, but I can't read it, might say Bethlehem Beer, but I am not positive at all. These two photos came in a box of other old photos that were from the Bethlehem - Easton area of Pennsylvania, but unfortunately, there is nothing written on these photos saying where or when they were taken and nothing identifying the men in the photos. The photos are nice and clear, with a few marks on them. The exterior photo is faded in the upper corner, but I think it was developed that way. The cardboard they are mounted on is in rough shape. Both have missing corners, rough edges and corners, the exterior shot has a tear in the cardboard but doesn't go into the photo. Could probably hide all that with a mat and frame. Despite the flaws these are two great old photos, great for the local historian, they make a great research project and are a part of that area's history. Postage will be 5.65 to the U. S.
