Weil - Auctioneer / American Art Galleries, 1926 & 1945. First Editions. Two auction catalogues. The first is the greatest of all Hollywood estate sales, the wonderfully produced 1926 catalogue gives great insight into the life and interests of the great silent star, Rudolph Valentino. Extensively illustrated with an excellent glimpse into Valentino’s classic Hollywood home, Falcon Lair. The catalogue lists over 2300 items including Falcon Lair, itself, as well as Valentino’s cars, boats, horses, dogs, artworks, library of books, furniture, swords, etc. 8” x 11”. Paperbound. A little rubbing to wrappers, a very good attractive copy. With the 1945 “Catalogue Comprising the Collection of Rudolph Valentino - Removed from Falcon Lair - Sold by the Order of Juan Romero” which lists 400 lots and is illustrated. Very good copy of a very scarce catalogue. With the 19 year gap between them, rarely are both catalogues found together.
