Description: Nero went from Elvis to Belushi in a few short years. The coin captures the final seasons of Nero's run on Palatine Hill. Nero's aureii are not too rare, especially this variety, because times were good under Nero. At least initially. Even after 2,000 years of wear this coin's Nero portrait fully expresses all his obese fury. Graded "Very Good" "Strike 5/5 Surface 4/5" if you put much weight in that. 7.10 grams of very high purity gold. Unlike so many ancient coins of the type NGC did not find that this coin has been filed, clipped, brushed, polished, scratched, tooled, holed, put in jewelry, "edge bumped", marked, scuffed, or marred by graffiti. This coin came to us together from a German collection with a Vespasian aureus of the exact same condition (later confirmed by NGC) and color of this coin. That might get listed later.
