He immigrated to the United States from his native Poland in 1972 and began work as a master silversmith and jeweler. He created high-relief designs by hammering pure .999 silver into intricate molds. He created many mezuzahs throughout his career. This Mezuzah case is a classic example of the mastery and work that Winograd creates. As you can see the highly detailed reliefs of Jerusalem city with the stone bricks and crenelations atop the walls The tower of David is presented in the background at the center under a realistic sky. Chased below we have shrubbery and trees brushing up against the walls with the word Jerusalem prominently displayed in Hebrew. Singed by the artist on reverse and marked at the bottom of the mezuzah case. Height 9.5cm width 2cm depth 1.6cm
