Description: Ashburton was a popular flint glass pattern in the mid-nineteenth century made in a wide variety of forms for both household and commercial use. Bar bottles like this were meant for saloons and taverns, as the non-ground opening with applied lip was meant for inserting a corked pouring spigot. This one has a particularly substantial applied blob-top lip, and the bottle itself almost weighs 3 pounds. This pattern was made by various companies including Sandwich and New England Glass. American pressed glass ca. 1850. Size: Approximately 10 ¾" high. Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks or repairs. Some shelf wear on the bottom. Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, returns are no problem if I happen to miss anything.
