Description: Antique Basket Weave miniature oil lamp. Shown in Hulsebus book 1, fig. 87 with complete shade top. This is the correct version of Smith I Fig 277. Made of milk glass with the basket weave design on shade and base 6 1/2" tall and 2 1/2" wide at base top. No chips or cracks. With gilt decoration quite a bit in tact. Original burner which is unmarked but as the one pictured in Smith's book. The wick moves freely. Now to the pictures of the small dark yellowish orange. Appears to be some kind of repair but it almost looks like it was factory and fired then painted. Or is it possible some contaminant when made? I just know know what to think. Nice little lamp.
