As you can see from the pictures, the front cover is barely holding on. I would say that 85% of the front cover is no longer on the spine. Similarly the exterior paper on the spine is peeling off. Originally this book has two pages in the front that would be personalized by the owner, with their signature - and the second page would include the diagram. On the back of this first page would be the publication date. However, these two pages have been cut from the book. You can see some stubs of these first two pages in the fourth picture. When comparing this book to other 1859 editions on eBay, I am confident this an 1859 edition. Judging by the pages and cover. Otherwise, this book has no additional alterations - including highlights, stains, etc. I am not a vintage book dealer by trade but but please view pictures as they accurately reflect the condition of the book and the pages.
