Description: Despite the current condition of the upholstery this is a nice piece of furniture. I believe it’s quite old, likely Victorian and possibly early Victorian. I’m not a furniture expert though so I’ll leave a final analysis to the buyer. It is very heavy and solid for its size weighing in at 20lbs. The original upholstery is present below the covering it now has. It looks like it may be promising. When the two holes in the top upholstery are lifted a bit one side shows somewhat vibrant interesting colors. The color on the other side looks more faded. What I can see of the original upholstery doesn’t seem to be torn or damaged. I think there’s a decent chance you could pull off the top layer to find some original upholstery that you could live with if you’re someone that enjoys original antique furniture. If what you find isn’t to your liking then having foot stools reupholstered is quite an easy job and relatively inexpensive. A handy amateur can even do this successfully.
