Description: For your consideration is an antique French déposé solid brass double inkwell. An impressive example that's beautifully cast and substantial in size, standing approximately 4" in height, measuring 10.5" in length, 6.5" wide, and weighing over 4 pounds. Heavy scroll and rocaille detailing enhances the attached tray with sprays of fruit decorating the top of the scrolled feet. Each well is topped with an ornate hinged cover with finial and both operate as intended . The brass is of good quality and polishes to a brilliant golden luster. No hallmark was discovered on inspection. The porcelain ink receptacles have been lost at some point across time, but antique replacements and newer reproductions are both readily available. In fine heirloom condition with no dents, corrosion, prior repairs, or other compromising imperfections found. Wear is commensurate to age and history of light well cared for use so please regard the photos as they form a descriptive part of the listing. We welcome your questions and are delighted to answer! Thank you for looking!
