Marked Beswick England on the undersides of his front paws, the porcelain figurine was designed by Arthur Gredington, who was the company’s first full time modelier. The Beswick factory was established in 1894 in Longton, Stoke on Trent, England. In 1969 Beswick was sold to Royal Doulton, and the Beswick factory was closed in 2002. This figurine was issued in 1965 and retired in 1994, during what was considered “The Golden Age” of Beswick.
