This is the Society of Medalists thirty seventh issue medal. The medal has the image of John the Baptist baptizing Jesus in the Jordan River with the legend "BLESSED* ARE*THE*MEEK*FOR*THEY*SHALL*INHERIT*THE*EARTH" within a dotted circle along the edge of the medal. The reverse shows a nude Salome holding the severed head of John the Baptist with a horse in the background. There is the name MICHAEL LANTZ 48 (c) below the image. The medal has a beautiful matte dark brassy patina. The edge of the medal is marked "The Society of Medalists Thirty Seventh Issue 1948-MIHAEL LANTZ Sculptor" and "Medallic Art Company N.Y. Bronze". The medal has no wear with minimum surface marks or scratches. It has what I view as beautiful matte brassy patina. The medal is problem free and great looking.
