The thermometer is attached to a carved oval wooden plaque that measures 9.2 inches ( 23 cm) long by 3.8 inches (9.5 cm) wide. Attached to the plaque is a carved bird on a tree branch , probably a memento of a holiday long ago .Carved from linden wood , stained walnut color as was commonly done to pieces of Black Forest carvings. we have not attempted to clean or restore the item , it is in its original state showing surface scratches , no cracks or chips , scuffed , thermometer ,still intact ,On the back is the original stamped metal eye used to hang it on a wall.
