Description: This postcard shows the "Monument of Ft. Dearborn Massacre, Chicago" in Illinois. In 1893 this sculpture was made by Danish-American sculptor, Carl Rohl-Smith (1848-1900). The sculpture depicts a scene from the Battle of Fort Dearborn in 1812 when Black Partridge, a Potawatomi chief, intervened to save the life of Margaret Helm, the wife of a U. S. army officer. After the years the postcard may show some typical wear.
