Description: Decorated in famille rose palette with a small bird perched among a flowering peony. The base is stamped with a 'shop' mark. 11-1/2” tall by 4-3/4” wide. Date: First half 20th century. I think the 1940's is about the mark for this piece. There is a large crack towards the back but it is not visable from the front. Retail Value: $70 Famille Rose was introduced during the reign of Kangxi (1654-1722).It used mainly pink or purple and remained popular throughout the 18th and the 19th centuries, and beyond. Famille rose enamel ware allows a greater range of color and tone than was previously possible, enabling the depiction of more complex, more vibrant images, including flowers, figures and insects. Please examine my photos as they are an integral part of my description. The photo of the vase makes it look tapering. The diameter is the same at the top as it is on the bottom.
