Description: Copeland Spode Hand Painted Birds Cobalt & Gold Pierced 9 3/8 Inch Plate J Antique late 19th century Victorian era English bone china pierced plate with relief molded and gold floral scrollwork border. With cobalt fish-scale ground alternating with hand painted birds of paradise around the border and a bird of paradise on blue branches with small red flowers in the center. Marked Copeland's China on the reverse. Also has a faint red pattern number 4619 and an impressed 89 date code for 1889. Has some wear to the gilding, and some scratches, and four small cracks extending off the edge, but otherwise good condition with no chips or cracks. Measures approximately 9 3/8 inches wide.
