Description: I have up for sale a rare antique / vintage original circa 1890s Victorian Era Hanging Lamp with Hobbs cranberry opalescent windows pattern shade and glass fount section. The lamp was converted to electricity but I have not tested it myself and am selling As Is. The real value here is in the glass shade and font . I believe the shade and font to be a match and both made by Hobbs Glass Co circa 1888 with the pattern named Windows or Windows Swirl . I was fortunate enough to have the shade documented by someone on the EAPG glass website , they sent me a link with page showing some of the Hobbs shades . My shade matches the Hobbs factory number 326 shade which was factory labeled as Ruby Opalescent . Its a 14" shade , actually 13-7/8" to be technical. The pattern on the font is just a bit different but that is due to the when the shade was expanded out it distorted the round windows into oval. That is what I was told by one of the experts on the EAPG Facebook website. He said that when the shade was expanded out it distorted the pattern of round windows. As you can see the pattern on the font has larger and more rounded windows. This does not mean that they are a mis-match just the opposite , it has to do with the manufacturing process back at that time. Although they are not shown in the pics, I have a bag full of prisms that came along with the lamp , they are included just not shown. The frame is relatively simple , not sure of the maker. I thought that it might be a Miller but the patent date on the brass font section does not match any of their patents. Basically I can not identify the hanger section , unknown to me who the maker is. As stated the glass is Excellent , I hate to say perfect as there is always one idiot who could find fault with anything . The listing is for Local Pickup Only as I prefer not to package because then I would have to undo some of the wiring and take off the short metal stem that they added on the bottom part where the glass font sits into the metal holder part. As noted its been altered / electrified . I don't have an extra plug laying around to test it . Today just happened to be a day that I had time to take pics and list . You are buying it As Is, just as its pictured. The shade and font are damage free but the burner section was removed and a socket put into place. They added wires and the stem section that I mentioned as well.
