The Story of Annie Moore Annie Moore was the First Irish Immigrant to register at Ellis Island on the 1st January 1891. Annie was just 15 years old when she arrived in America along with her two brothers Philip and Anthony. Along with many other Irish citizen they boarded the S.S. Nevada in Ireland on the 18th December 1890 bound for New York, full of dreams of the new life that lay ahead of them in America. When arriving in New York they were reunited with there parents and family who had gone ahead of them to make there home in the states. The Moore family then moved on to Texas where they started their own farm. Annie was married in Waco Texas in 1898 to Patrick O' Connell a descendent of Daniel O'Connell. Shortly after they married Patrick and Annie moved on to West Texas, Were they settled for many years. In 1919 they moved to Clovis in New Mexico. Patrick was taken very ill with a flu epidemic and passed away. Annie survived him for 4 years. She was tragically killed in a train accident in 1923 while travelling between Fort Worth and Dallas.
