Description: Dyckia rarifloraAn easy to grow Brazilian Pineapple relative that is frequently grown among succulent and orchid collections that can also be grown outdoors in mild climates. The plants grow in dense rosettes of silver-blue-green, very spiny foliage that varies from 4-8" long. The small, bright orange-red, waxy flowers are candy for hummingbirds, and sway in the breeze on stems up to 3' tall. The plants quickly grow into large colonies by stolons that run below the soil surface. If grown in pots, plants will emerge from drainage holes. Even though this tolerates a fair amount of drought, it is best grown with a fair amount of moisture. Grow in full to half sun, a shade in the afternoon in hot climates. Hardy down to the upper 20s, but a little protection will be appreciated. This offering is for one, young, blooming-size plant in a 3 1/4" pot - very similar to what may been seen in the last photo. The flower photos are for reference only. NOT IN BLOOM. I have been collecting and cultivating rare and exotic plants for over 45 years, and I take pride in the condition and health of my offerings here on ebay. All photos are of plants in my own collection - unless stated otherwise. NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING - SORRY - I ONLY SHIP TO THE US.
