Description: Electronics: A Short CourseStanley R. lenihanDel Norte Research & DevelopementSomerton AZ. INTRODUCTION This short course in electronics covers basic alternating current(AC) circuit theory. The prerequisite for understanding this theory is knowledge of trigonometry and particularly the theory of complex numbers. The author's short course in trigonometry would serve to supply all of the prerequisite knowledge. This short course in electronics has been used as extra credit assignments in courses in trigonometry taught by the author. This short course only covers the transmission of the "signal" through the circuit. In practical circuits containing "active" circuit components such as transistors or vacuum tubes, the active components have to be "biased" to their correct operating state. This involves direct current circuit theory and is not covered in this short course. This document was developed using Mathcad in order to obtain the computational capability that comes with Mathcad. In order to perform these calculations, the appropriate equations should be copied to a separate working document and the necessary input quantities should be defined. Never try to do any calculation while in this short course document. Mathcad doesn't have the required inputs. In order to prevent the reader from trying to do this, all the equations have been turned off. You can tell this by the little black square to the right of each equation. These little black squares should be ignored by the reader. However, to do the calculation in the working document, the equations should be toggled back on. If you are reading the PDF form of this document, then you have no computational capabilities what-so-ever and all you have to remember is to ignore the little black square to the right of each equation. Stanley Lenihan is a Mathmatics graduate of UCLA with minors in Physics and Chemistry and has worked as a Mathematician for General Atomic CO., Lawrence Livermore Laboratory, as well as a Nuclear Engineer, Technical Engineer and Thermodynamics Engineer for various companies, and has taught math at six colleges. Book is in PDF format and will be sent on disk.
