Description: This is a very fine extremely rare Chinese rank badge, from the late Ming (1368-1644) period to early Qing (1644-1911) period. This piece was purchased by a collector in China in the 1960s. The colelctor passed away at the age of 101 This is a very rare opportunity to own an authentic piece of Chinese regalia of the finest quality. The red color of the background of the badge is most commonly seen in Ming pieces, and is almost never seen in qing pieces due to cultural differences between the two ethnic cultures at the time. The condition is consistent with being around 400 years old. There is some fraying at the edge and some missing silk embroidery stitches, please see pictures for more details.
