This item was purchased by Stanley Weston (Ring Magazine) and comes from the Estate of Dr Walter H Jacobs. Dr Jacobs is credited with developing individually molded rubber mouth guards for boxers. Dr Jacobs was an amateur lightweight boxer in his youth and avid fight fan. This blue satin robe with bold yellow letters was worn into the ring many times including his 3 bouts against Willie Pep. It was gifted the Dr Jacobs and includes a pic of his boys holding the complete robe. The robe was converted into a book cover with used fight ticket stubs and 10 original fight programs from the 30's , 40's and 50's. It is also written inside the book that a piece of black leather with the words "For the Championship of the World" in gold lettering was cut from the punching bag used by Lightweight champ Lou Ambers.
