Description: Great mid 20th century oil on canvas portrait of a big eyed urchin in the spirit of Margaret Keane, is housed in a gilded wood frame measuring 12 1/4" x 28", surrounded by a linen liner or matt, measuring 1 1/4" wide. Painted with impasto, the image is of a young boy with a mop of black hair, large blue eyes, presenting a beautiful red rose. Signed in the lower right hand corner, we cannot read the signature, and have not been able to identify the artist. Impressed on the reverse of the wood frame is "Made in Sweden", but again, we do not know by whom or where the painting was done. In good as found estate condition, there is some paint loss on the boy's brown trousers, which looks like white paint, and there is a spot of white paint to the matt on the right side, but overall the colors are fresh, and the image is compelling.
