Bob Fulton, known to Gamecock fans for 43 years as the "Voice of the Gamecocks" was for many, their only link to the University of South Carolina. In this rip-roar-ing, page-turning autobiography by the legendary and popular sportscaster, we get a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes world of Carolina athletics from Fulton's unique vantage point. What emerges is a surprisingly honest and often humorous appraisal of the coaches, players, officials, and fans. Bob was there broadcasting games and covering the sports scene during the good times and the bad. When times were good, he added excitement to Gamecock victories in football, basketball and baseball. When things weren't going well, he was the calming voice that rang of hope for better times to come. Bob not only relives his years with USC, but also takes us back to his early days in radio-broadcasting for Mutual's Game of the Day-working with the legendary Dizzy Dean and watching great players such as Ted Williams and Mickey Mantle. Bob also excelled at game re-cre-ation, a common practice during his early broadcasting years. His vivid memories of that era give the reader a ride through the golden age of sports and broadeasting. There will be future coaches, athlet-ies directors, presidents and, yes, sportscasters serving at the University of South Carolina. Sooner or later, they will all say their farewells. None will be able to look back with a greater sense of accomplishment than Bob Fulton, who will forever remain one of the all-time greats in Gamecock history. About the Authors Since his retirement in 1995 after 43 years as the play-by-play announcer for USC sports, Bob Fulton is enjoying being a "regular" Gamecock fan along with his wife Carol. He currently enjoys traveling, tailgat-ing, and creating and promoting his Fantasy Tapes. This is the second book he has coauthored with his friend Don Barton. They first collaborated on the critically acclaimed biogra-phy, Frank McGuire: The Life and Times of a Basketball Legend Richard Lee Don Barton is a former Sports Information Director at USC and was Sports Editor of the Columbia Record.
