Description: Howard Johnsons Hexagonal Glass Ashtray and Wooden Holder I’ve seen a lot of hotel souvenir items over the years but this is the only one of these I’ve seen. 1970’s vintage to the point that if anyone asked you to describe the 70’s you could just send a picture of this item. These were decorative ashtray holders used in the rooms and lounge. Four square head bolts are driven loosely into the top on which informational tags, Do Not Disturb signs and special offer string tags were hung for promotion. Fits a variety of Howard Johnson design glass hex shaped ashtrays from 3.5” up to about 4 1/4”. One ashtray is included as shown. Condition good with wear. Solid dark pine thats carved in the shape of a decade. I try not overuse the word rare but among the maps, bags, soaps and other Howard Johnsons item these are just truly gone.
