Description: Impressionist Winter Stream landscape by Harry DeMaine (1880-1951), listed New York artist, oil on canvas board, 10" by 12", signed lower left, original carved and white gold regilded Newcomb Macklin frame, 11 3/8" by 13 3/8". Artist was born in England and began his arts education at Liverpool City Art School, then studied painting and printmaking in London before attending Academie Julian in Paris. He served in WWI, and after his discharge, relocated to the United States, settling in New York, often spending summers on Cape Ann with the Rocky Neck Art Colony. DeMaine was a member of New York Watercolor Society, American Watercolor Society, Salmagundi Club, National Academy of Design, and Rockport Art Association. Condition is excellent, frame has been professionally regilded in white gold.
