Condition The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration.Biography paint, illustrator and printmaker, who was born at Battle, East Sussex and who studied at Hastings Art School, 1922-25 and RCA, 1925-30 where his teachers included Malcolm Osborne and William Rothenstein. While there he entered for and won the coveted Prix de Rome as a result of which he spent two years in Italy and Greece. He taught at Regent Street Polytechnic School of Art for some years before and after World War II having also been on the staff at Hastings School of Art. He exhibited at the RA and RBA and also showed at the Redfern Gallery, NEAC and a retrospective exhibition in 1987 at the Guildhall Art Gallery, London. More recently in 2014, another exhibition was held at the Burton Art Gallery in Devon. He was married to the sculptor Charlotte Gibson.
