Description: Antique Japanese Sake Bottle (Tokkuri) This type of antique sake bottle (tokkuri) was a container rented by sake shops to customers who would have it filled to be taken home. After consuming the sake the customer would return it to the shop for re-filling. This tokkuri is gray ceramic with black kanji characters which would indicate the sake shop and brand name. A very nice piece for collectors of Asian art and crafts. The condition is consistent with age and use. The bottle measures approximately 9" high; 4 1/2" diameter.
