Description: Item Description: This large sterling silver butterfly pin has been beautifully designed and crafted by Frederico Jimenez. It measures 2 3/8" tall by 2 1/8" across and weighs .76 of an ounce. It is signed with Frederico's FJ hallmark, stamped sterling and is in excellent condition. FEDERICO JIMENEZ was born in Oaxaca, Mexico in 1941 in a Mixtec Indian Community. He came to the US in 1967 to study jewelry making and design. In 1970, he took a trip to the Southwest and fell in love with the American Indian culture. He especially admired the Indian craftsmanship and technique so much that he started a collection of Folk Art and opened a gallery on Main Street in Santa Monica, CA and then in Venice, CA. where he specialized in Antiques and Collectibles.
