You CAN wind the key; however, the toy won't operate properly. If the key is manually turned, it functions appropriately. So, operationally it's not perfect, but I believe it could be repaired by someone that knows what they're doing. Cosmetically the piece is pretty nice. It does have some oxidation on the backboard and Popeye. The net has partially broken down. Please see photos.
