Linux Mint Mate Lenovo N22

Description: Lenovo N22 (Former-)Chromebook with Linux Mint Mate 20.1 operating system. This was originally a retired Chromebook from a middle school. Unfortunately, Google stops issuing updates for these devices after a number of years, and this usually results in replacement. More unfortunately, the manufacturers restrict the ability to replace the operating system. Fortunately, an individual that goes by the name of MrChromebox (https://mrchromebox.tech) has developed a way to get around these manufacturer restrictions. These tools were used to replace the firmware, and I want to give credit to they're fantastic work. I couldn't have done it without they're tools. This keeps would-be e-waste out of landfills. Ultimately, the result of all of this is a faster, more secure and private laptop. Linux is and always will be open-source, meaning that no tech companies will ever collect any data about how you use your device; you're in control, not a huge corporation that sells your data. --------------------------------------------- The specifications/features for the device are as follows: 16GB eMMC storage Intel Integrated Graphics Intel Celeron 1.6GHz processor Swiveling webcam/microphone 1 SD card reader 2 USB 3.0 ports 1 HDMI port 1 3.5mm audio jack Bluetooth 4.1 Wifi Built-in handle -------------------------------------------- This is by no means a powerful device, but it can easily handle simple tasks like browsing the web, streaming video, editing/writing documents, network administration, photo editing, and various hobbyist uses. It is also a great way to get introduced to and learn about Linux. The battery is good (see battery life image). Charging cord not included. Linux Mint is a notoriously user/beginner friendly operating system, and the Mate desktop is considered a good option for users adjusted to Windows. Once you learn Linux, you'll never want to go back to Windows or MacOS. -------------------------------------------- It's a simple device, and my father with no previous experience with Linux uses one of these to stream movies and cast them to his TV with no issues.
