It is a complete train set and is in excellent condition, however, I do not have a set box. This set is made up of all postwar components. Included in this sale are the following: 1 - Lionel #2033 Union Pacific Alco A powered diesel locomotive, with a powerful AC motor, working headlight, lens, windshield insert, decorative horn and a 3 position e unit that allows it to run in forward and reverse directions controlled from the transformer. The 2033 A units were built from1952 to 1954. 1 - Lionel #2033 Union Pacific unpowered A diesel unit with a windshield insert, decorative horn and collector to power the working headlight and electronic diesel horn circuit board and speaker that are mounted inside. The horn is also controlled from the transformer. 1 - Lionel #3461 8 wheel Lionel Lines operating log dump car with a 5 log load and a Lionel #160 dump bin to catch the logs as dumped. The 3461 was built from 1949 to 1955 1 - Lionel #6460 8 wheel Bucyrus Erie operating crane car. The 6460 was built from 1952 to 1954. 1 - Lionel #6419 DL&W 8 wheel work caboose. The 6419 was built from 1948 to 1950 and again from 1952 to 1955. 1 - Lionel #1033, 90 watt transformer with a speed control, a direction / whistle (horn) control, a 110 volt power cord and a 2 conductor track power cable with a Lionel CTC track power connector for connection to the track. The 1033 was built from 1948 to 1956. 8 - Lionel O27 gauge curved track sections.5 - Lionel O27 gauge straight track sections.1 - Lionel O27 gauge remote control track section with a 2 button control for uncouple and unload. - Marx automatic crossing gate, including an AFX #3051 fixed voltage transformer, a Lionel 143C track control switch and wiring to allow the gate to come down as the train approaches and up again when the train passes.1 - Lionel semi tractor and trailer to haul material and equipment to and from the train.1 - Lionel single lane track grade crossing for truck access to enter the area enclosed by the track. 1 - Standard operating instruction booklet. 1 - Track polishing pad. I completely assembled the set and tested everything. All parts of the train are in excellent condition and it operates perfectly, especially since the components are over 70 years old, the locomotives had both been professionally refinished approximately 10 years ago, and are still in excellent condition. Since there are always problems with the original horn assembly, I eliminated the original horn, battery holder, and relay, and I put an electronic horn configuration into the unpowered A unit, so there is no need to use a battery anymore and no worry's about removing the battery to avoid acid damage. The dump car and crane car are both in excellent operating condition, with some minor playwear. The caboose had a minor repair to the roof, which was then repainted. There may be light rust on some of the metal parts, but nothing that interferes with the operation of the train. The tracks are in good condition, some of them have light rust and tarnish. I lightly cleaned them, made sure each track has 3 pins and the train runs great on these tracks. I included a track polishing pad to help maintain the track in good condition. The remote control track section has buttons for "unload" and "uncouple". The uncouple button will activate the electromagnetic couplers on the front of the locomotives via the flying shoes on the rear trucks of the respective locomotive. The button labeled "unload" activates the fourth and fifth rails of the remote track section that operate on many of the postwar operating cars that use flying shoes to power the unload mechanisms. This remote operating track has been rewired and both controls operate properly. This will come in handy if you have any of the older operating cars in your collection that require this function. With a little creativity, there is enough equipment included here to start a nice train layout, perhaps using a 4' X 8' sheet of plywood on a 2x4 frame, (use your imagination!). I am also including a Lionel publication that shows how to make layouts and it also has some helpful accessory wiring guides. I do not have any original boxes or manuals for this train, the standard operating instruction booklet I am including is simply basic tips and suggestions for operation.
