Description: Proudly presented today is this lovely San Ildefonso blackware bowl by the famous Maria Martinez, the greatest Pueblo Potter who ever lived. This classic styled little bowl measures 1 inch tall and 5 and a half inches across. Maria was born in 1887 and passed away in 1980. Her wonderful life spans the golden age of San Ildefonso pottery, in fact ALL of Pueblo Pottery, and she is rightly viewed as one of the Founding Mothers of its brilliant revitalization. This piece was made between 1957 and 1961. The signature says "Maria/ Popavi" and is VERY clear and matches perfectly with other pieces by her. The piece contains 2 small chips, as shown in the photos. This imperfection is what makes this wonderful example within reach of any collector. This is your golden opportunity to own a priceless treasure of the Southwest. Included with the piece is a newspaper clipping kept by the former owner, when he acquired the piece in 1978. Buy with complete confidence, for as you all know, if the buyer is unsatisfied for ANY reason, i will immediately return the full purchase price, along with return shipping. This piece would grace any Southwest Pottery collection on earth. Many thanks for your kind consideration, and congratulations in advance to the VERY lucky buyer. As always, Best Regards, Rich
