Description: Summer fun with this white evil eye Krobo beaded piece. These white Krobo are vintage beads. They have the evil eye pattern that is traditional in Africa. Evil eye is said to ward off evil. I'm not superstitious, but i do love this pattern. These are nice beads and a perfect size that will definitely be an eye catcher and a conversation starter at work, or a backyard bbq. The focal bead is a solid, soft white color. This bead is vintage from my Ghana, 1970s collection. All of the glass beads are recycled glass from Ghana. This is a labor-intensive process. The women gather the glass that is being thrown away. The men crush it, then add the powder glass to clay molds. It is then put into a wood fired kiln. When the beads are done, they pull them out, paint designs using water and powder glass. They are fired for another ten minutes or so. All Krobo are made by families in an oppen air hut, not factories. Some of these beads, such as the bicone, are no longer made. The small brown glass beads are Krobo, too. The wood beads are vintage. They are a hand turned wood bead. An older gentleman made them. They are an American hard wood. This piece has a nice glaze applied to it to protect all the beads. I used 2 strands of wire for strength, and 14mm stainless-steel lobster claw and components. Thank you, please view my other one of a kind work. Kimberly McNeice Glade Creek Art
