Description: Up for sale is this antique "Meridan Watch Co." 21 jewel, 3 adjustments sterling silver pocket watch in damaged / as-is condition. The back case is hallmarked Sterling with a crescent moon and star and the number 6631. It has a faint hand-engraved series of numbers and letters that I cannot read for certain. The movement is marked Meridan Watch Co., motor barrel, 3 adjust. (adjustments), Numa Frechelin, serial number 1637421 21 jewels. In reading what I could find on the internet, it appears that "Numa Frechelin is a Swiss company existed in Colombier that was known for making watches of the American style, what the Swiss called "Boston" watches and now called Swiss Fakes by American collectors. Louis Frechelin made watches as far back as the 1880's, Numa was listed in the 1920's in the same town." The face is quite damaged and it is missing the hand for seconds dial. Tarnished with signs of damage where it's been opened. I am selling this as-is - as a nonfunctional watch. You may be able to get it running again. This came from the 1972 estate of my late great aunt, who owned an antique shop in Avilla, Indiana, until her death. I am leaving on the price tag she attached so many years ago! Buyer pays shipping.
