Description: NEW Classification - NWA 15122 (H4) - 9.6 g meteorite slice (Awesome Metals) This is my 8th classification and is an unusual looking fine grained high metal meteorite. Much of the metal is altered but is very appealing and unique looking in my opinion. The TKW of the 4 stones is 1154 grams. SIZE: 49x34x3 mm The classification of NWA 15122 was done by A. Irving, UWS, and J. Boesenberg, BrownU in 2022. History: Purchased by John Divelbiss in June 2020 from a dealer in Tombstone, Arizona, who had obtained the material from a Moroccan source.Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Relatively small, well-formed equilibrated chondrules containing devitrified glass and plagioclase are set in a relatively coarse grained matrix containing altered kamacite, chromite, troilite, merrillite and Fe phosphate, but no plagioclase.Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa19.0±0.4, range Fa18.7-19.2, N = 7), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs17.0±0.3Wo1.3±0.3, range Fs16.5-17.2Wo1.0-1.7, N = 7).Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4).Specimens: 22.5 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. J.
