Description: From an estate, original 1950s Copenhagen travel poster by Viggo Vagnby. There are pin holes in each corner, but otherwise nice. See pictures. Ships in a tube via USPS Ground Advantage. One of the most famous prints in Danish poster history is Viggo Vagnby's drawing of ducks crossing the street. This emblematic poster illustrates a joyful event that actually took place in 1959. In the Frederiksberg district, in the middle of rush hour, a police officer stopped all cars and pedestrians after a family of ducks had wondered into the road. The little family was thus able to continue its journey in complete safety in a moment full of tenderness that made headlines in many countries. Viggo Vagnby studied painting in Aarhus before traveling to France in the early 1920s to improve his skills as a drafttsman. He worked as an advertising designer and exhibition architect before setting up a drawing office in Aalborg. Renowned illustrator of tourist posters, his style is based on a simplified form and an emphasis on elements characteristic of a region or city.
