Spike Lee directed the film that satirized the treatment of African Americans by the television industry.The poster was recalled shortly after being issued to movie theaters due to concerns about the racist and offensive imagery (used purposefully to invoke the message of the film). The New York Times refused to run an advertisement for with similar artwork due to concerns that their readers would be offended (without the context of the film which actually criticizes racist stereotypes).
