My grading scale includes Near Mint (looks like it was just bought, any flaws are extremely minor), Very Fine (almost Near Mint, but just misses), Fine (still looks new but has small imperfections), Very Good (shows evidence of handling and has notable flaws but none are disastrously awful), Good (more flawed, still a solid book for reading but that's about it), Fair (big problems) and Poor (horrible condition, trash it after reading it).
