Description: Here are a pair of framed Botanical Prints. The original watercolors were done in the 16th century byJacques Le Moyne and are residing in the British Museum. These are contemporary. One is Cypress and Moth and the other is Rosemary and Lackey Moth Caterpillar. Beautiful matting with what looks like hand painted outlines and strip of marbled paper. Measurements: Overall with frame: 14 1/8" x 16 1/2" Artwork: 4 3/4" x 7 1/2". Condition: What looks like light toning spots surrounding Caterpillar I believe to be part of reproduction and not damage to this print. The frames have some flaking - please study last photos. The plexi-glass does have some light scratches. From the Museum's website: This watercolour is taken from an album of fifty drawings, possibly the finest botanical studies of the sixteenth century. A number of the designs from the album served as models for embroidery and other decorative work, but their high finish and meticulous naturalism suggest that they were originally made as presentation drawings. These will be safely packaged.
