Description: Original post-WWI Era US Army AEF M1917A1 "Kelly Helmet" - Complete w/Liner & Chin Strap - Very Nice Condition - RARE Up for sale is an Original post-WWI Era US Army M1917A1 Helmet. Better known as the "Kelly Helmet". This helmet is basically a M1917 helmet with an improved liner & chin strap design. It has the original paint with the original textured finish. There are no visible markings or dates on the liner. There is a spot of white paint on the inside of the leather lining, see photos. The liner is good condition. The leather is supple, but starting to stiffen. There is wear and some tearing of the leather around the rim of the liner frame, see photos. The canvas chin strap is present, no tears or fraying. The rim of the helmet is fully intact. The helmet has the original paint, no major dings or dents in the helmet. It has a 9C stamped on the underside of the rim.
