Description: Maker and size: This lovely bone china cup and saucer set is by the English maker Copelands. And it reflects that company's superb quality: the paint work is excellent and the craftsmanship is of a very high standard. On the reverse is the Copelands China Grosvenor mark that came into use in the mid 1930s. Copeland was associated with Spode from the late 1800s well into the 20th century, and then again in the late 20th century. This mark is from the period when Copeland was not associated with Spode. Design: The lightly scalloped pattern features finely painted pink and blue hydrangeas. The number A31 is handwritten on the base of the cup; it appears to be the pattern number but that is not confirmed. Condition: The set is in excellent condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, scratches, marks, repairs or stains. Both pieces have a few tiny utensil marks that can be seen in bright light.
