The surfaces are simply magnificent, with naturally aged bronze patina and feature an archaic, stylized figuration, characteristic of earlier antique Akan bronze figurative metal sculpture. These miniature bronze figures were used in mercantile trade and as counterweights on scales in the measurement of gold and other valued minerals by the Akan people. The figure is holding a large pestle with both arms in a cocked position, using the pestle to pound wheat, seed or nuts into flour or meal. The figure wears a wrap or loin cloth and stands on a thin square base. Authentic, original and absolutely gorgeous. Magnificent. CONDITION:Very Good to Excellent overall antique condition. In absolutely 100% untouched, undisturbed condition.
